Town Council to ‘Ask Stanley’ in 2016
The Town Council will be launching a comprehensive consultation with residents of the Parish in the New Year. We want to build a plan for the next 5 years that focuses on delivering things that people who live in the Parish think are important, so we will be asking every resident aged 13 or over to tell us what is important to them in their part of the Parish and what they would like us to try and do about it.
We want to reach as many people as we can, so we will be sending a newsletter to every home in the area, holding public meetings at Village Halls and Community Centres, engaging with secondary schools and even visiting people at home to capture their views about Stanley and what we should do to make it a better place to live, work and visit.
The Council is also looking to develop a neighbourhood plan for the Parish, so we will be asking what sort of development you think Stanley needs to be encourage growth and be sustainable in the future. We will also share the results with partners like Durham County Council so that all the people providing services in Stanley know what your views and aspirations are.

Will Derwentside be accepting any refugees ?
I know that the County Council have issued a statement saying that they are supportive of refugees. As to how many have been resettled in Durham, or North Durham in particular, I don’t have any information. I would suggest you direct this question to your local County Councillors. http://democracy.durham.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1
I don’t even know what to say, this made things so much eaiesr!
I am the Minister for East Stanley, South Moor, and White Le Head Methodist Churches. I would love be part of that conversation as we are considering how the churches can do more to benefit the community.
Thanks for getting in touch Ramona, we would certainly like to involve you in the conversation
why cant Stanley have a jd wethersoons pub, consett, seaham, Houghton. which are also growing towns
That’s a question better directed to JD Wetherspoons. There is some good news though, the Imperial will be reopening in Front Street very soon which will increase choice in Stanley town centre
What are the council doing about the disgusting litter problem in South Moor/ Stanley, and the lack of waste bins, weeds going up and down streets etc.
Litter and weed spraying are issues that are dealt with by Durham County Council and you should report issued to them. However, if these are the issues that are important to you , please raise them when we launch our resident survey next month. We will be discussing the survey results with partners like the County Council to try and find solutions to the issues people care about
Why don’t we bulldoze South Moor and turn the road into a ski slope. Would have to be a dry one obviously. Like they have in Silksworth.
Think should be disbanded or only members allowed who are in full time employment or retired all meetings held in a open policy
Arran, most of the Council’s members are in full time employment or retired. Some are unemployed. Are you suggesting that unemployed people should not be able to hold public office? Every meeting is open to the public and always has been
