Council Papers for 20th December – Christmas Special

The December meeting of Council promises to be an interesting one with several important decisions being made. The Council will be considering a draft business case and making a decision whether or not to bid for the old Stanley Urban District Council Offices in Front Street now that DCC have placed them on the market.  They will also be considering a proposal to take over the Community Room in West Rd, Annfield Plain and seeking to approve the budget for 2017/18.

The budget being presented to Council by the Finance Committee will be proposing that the Town Council’s part of the Council Tax is frozen next year, whilst allocating a further £60,000 towards cash grants to support community groups and initiatives.  More information about the Council Offices and the Community Rooms and the full draft budget are linked below.

Draft Budget and Finance Meeting 6th December

The Finance Committee meets at the Civic Hall at 6.30pm on Tuesday 6th December 2016.  The main topic for consideration will be the second draft of the Town Council’s 2016/17 Budget, where the projects the Council wishes to deliver in 2017/18 will be balanced against the available income.

Council Papers for 15th November Uploaded

Council will be considering whether or not to become the custodian of Annfield Plain War Memorial, what a brand new war memorial for the whole of Stanley could look like, whether or not to provide a community defibrillator for the town and looking at budgets for next year at Tuesday’s meeting. We will also be considering a request for funding for a charity swimathon being organised at Stanley baths by the Rotary Club of Derwentside, the new ALDI proposal and proposed changes to Dog Control Orders across the County.

The public are both welcomed and encouraged to come and participate in our meetings, this meeting will be held at the Stanley Education Centre (next to Shield Row School) at 6.30 pm on Tuesday 15th November. The hot chocolate from the free vending machine at Shield Row is recommended so we hope to see you there!

In addition to the events at the weekend, the Town Council will be holding a wreath laying event  on Friday 11th November at the Civic Hall. All residents are invited to join us for 2 minutes silence.

Crime & Community Safety Agenda Uploaded

The next meeting of Council is the Crime & Community Safety Meeting. The Committee will be hearing presentations from Groundwork North East and Durham Money Advice about the services they provide which are funded by the Town Council and the Committee will be making recommendations as to items which should be included for funding in the next financial year.

The Meeting will be held at the Shield Row Education Centre, King Edward VIII Terrace (next to Shield Row School) at 6.30pm on Tuesday 8th November. All meetings are open to the public.

Finance Meeting – Budget Setting 1st November 2016

The next meeting of Stanley Town Council will be the Finance Committee. Members will be considering the first draft budget and making recommendations to Council about which projects and initiatives should be funded in 2017/18.

The meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 1st November 2016 at Shield Row Education Centre, King Edward VIII Terrace, Stanley due to Oliver! being on at the Civic Hall.

Comms & Events Papers Uploaded 4- 10-16

The Agenda and papers for next week’s Communications & Events meeting have been uploaded. This meeting is the one where the Committee reviews the events it has organised over the summer and makes recommendations to Full Council about what events the Town Council should organise and fund in the next financial year, so it is an important meeting.

As always, the meeting is open to the public and this agenda has an open forum where members of the public can put forward ideas and suggestions for consideration by the Committee.

Notice of Conclusion of Audit

The Council has received notice that the Independent External Auditor has certified that the Town Council’s Annual return were has been submitted in accordance with proper accounting practices and no issues were raised requiring remedial action.

The Accounts themselves are available to be inspected by local electors until 15th October 2016
